Brazilian novelist and author Paulo Coelho does not write for Llewellyn Worldwide or another of the New Age publishers that have popped up to promote and cash in on the Wicca phenomena. His books include The Alchemist, Warrior of the Light, The Witch of Portobello, By the River Piedra I Sat and Wept, Life: Selected Quotations, The Pilgrimage, Veronika Decides to Die, The Zahir, The Fifth Mountain, The Devil and Miss Prym, The Valkyries, and other titles. You will notice not one speaks about chanting your way into riches or burning pink candles to find the love of your life. So why do I mention him here in a modern pagan news service?
Mr. Paulo Coelho is Wiccan and his latest release, Brida, incorporates much of the religion into its plot in the same way you might recall the Catholic religion being incorporated into the plot of Law and Order. Religion is often the motivation of action and the basis of moral and ethical decisions. When deeply felt, religion shapes a person’s soul so it does seem logical that it would be included in the shaping of a character’s soul.
According to Ipsita Roy Chakraverti, author of Sacred Evil and Beloved Witch, Paulo Coelho is just one of many Wiccan authors. Although it seems she is using the word Wicca as a general reference to pagan spirituality, she claims many authors have been and are Wiccan. Perhaps most notably, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930), the Scottish author who created the Sherlock Holmes character and WB Yeats (1865 – 1939), the well known Irish poet.

Roman Emperor Constantine, who converted to Christianity, had it covered up in the fourth century. But today, after a year of restorative labor, the ancient pagan tomb is open to the inquisitive by virtue of the Roman Catholic Church.
The Valeri Mausoleum was built in the later half of the second century, during the rule of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. One of 22 tombs in the grottoes under the basilica, this recently uncovered example of architectural and artistic story telling provides an insight into the lives of Roman pagans. Statues and bas reliefs line the multi room structure and tell the story of a families life. Deity images depict the occupant’s strong devotion to their pagan religion.

Vandals Damage Stonehenge With Hammer
LONDON — Two men attacked the ancient monument of Stonehenge with a hammer and chipped off a piece of stone the size of a large coin, a conservation group said Thursday.
Two men hacked the piece from the Heel Stone — the central megalith at the ancient site — last week, English Heritage spokeswoman Debbie Holden said. They were spotted by security guards but escaped by jumping over a fence and driving off.
Wiltshire police are investigating the incident at the UNESCO World Heritage Site located 90 miles (145 kilometers) west of London.
"The damage is very, very slight because security guards spotted them straight away, but the whole thing is still upsetting," said Holden. "This kind of thing has not happened for decades." The mysterious Stonehenge site is one of Britain's best known and least understood landmarks.
It has become popular with Druids, neo-Pagans and new Agers who attach mystical significance to the strangely shaped stones. There is still great debate about the actual purpose of the site.

VATICAN CITY — The Vatican unveiled the largest and most luxurious of the pagan tombs in the necropolis under St. Peter's Basilica on Tuesday after nearly a year of restoration work.
A family of former slaves built the Valeri Mausoleum during the second half of the second century, when Emperor Marcus Aurelius ruled. It is one of 22 pagan tombs in the grottoes under the basilica.
The newly restored tomb was shown to media Tuesday. Visitors can have a guided tour of the grottoes by appointment.
Emperor Constantine, a convert to Christianity, had the pagan burial grounds covered up in the fourth century so the basilica could be built over the site holding St. Peter's tomb.
The Valeri tomb, made up of several rooms, is several hundred feet from the burial place of the Apostle Peter, venerated by Catholics as the first pope. Peter was martyred in Rome in the area near the Vatican known as Nero's Circus during the first century persecution of Christians by the Romans.

This is Tina Wilson. She went missing from the Central Ohio area about 3 years ago. Because Pagan Nation was founded in Columbus, OH we retain many members in the Columbus, Ohio area and believe it is likely Tina Wilson attended events hosted by Pagan Nation as she was a frequent customer of the pagan shop which once hosted our servers. So we are hoping one of our members might have information which could help police find this woman.
On a sad note: Aimee and Aimee Drew not only recall her but believe she was the young lady who accompanied a disturbed man who openly discussed his involvement in murders related to Wicca. They did notify the police at the time and again when Tina Wilson was first noted as missing, but it is unclear if police were able to use that information to their benefit. Perhaps they can use your information.
If you know anything that might help, please do your civic duty and help find police help our community.
