First, yammering about Alex Mar’s documentary “American Mystics” and a life update.

Then, a question from a fellow Redditor:

Whatever your beliefs (or lack thereof) on reincarnation, the idea of literal rebirth and past life regression is a fairly popular one among a lot of witches. In the process of exploring their past lives, one might decide one was a member of the First Nations, an Egyptian Priest, or a Vestal Virgin and therefore incorporate aspects of these cultures into their practice or identity. Allowing that there needn’t be any intention (or actual) disrespect by the one doing so, I imagine it would be easy for some to perceive this scenario as an end-run around arguments against cultural appropriation (for instance, a “But it was my culture, so I’m just as entitled to it as you are” sort of thing). Any thoughts?
