For Parents

This video has been called “For Parents” ever since I first thought it out and wrote notes on paper. But despite the title, it’s not just for parents–it can also apply to guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles, other loved ones, or generally people who care for you. Though it does mostly refer to those who have raised you in some way, I tried to leave it open for other situations as much as I could while still speaking directly to certain issues. I pulled from my own experiences, and conversations I’ve had with people, thinking about their concerns and worries. So while, as always, my experiences do not match everyone’s, I do hope this can be helpful as a conversation starter.

I have asked my mother, Rev. Rose, to make a video on this subject from her point of view. When she posts one, I will link to it from here. That way, my actual parent, who went through this with me, can also be a resource.
