Kupala Night – Slavic pagan summer solstice

Kupala night (noc kupaly) – an ancient Slavic pagan summer rite celebrating the summer solstice (known in other countries as Midsummer). On Kupala Night, people wear wreaths symbolizing purity, sing and dance around bonfires, bathe naked in rivers and lakes and leap over fires as a test of courage.
